The toughest part is over and you are going to meet. First impressions are very important and if you’re not cautious, you could still trip things up at this phase. Here are our tips on meeting someone in person you met on an online dating site:

Tip # 1- make sure you choose the right setting!

It may seem obvious but the choice of setting can really make or break a date. Preferably you should choose a site that’s public, with people around but where you can still have a conversation.

Tip # 2- Meeting at your home or your date’s house is out of the question

Not meeting in a public setting sends the wrong message on a first date, and could possibly be unsafe. You may think you know someone you met online; they may not be who they said they were on their profile. To make matters worse, they could be really unexciting and disappointing and not take the hint that you are not interested!

Tip # 3 – Movies are thought of as good settings for dates,

Do you really want to be stuck for up to three hours with your date in a place where you can’t look at each other properly or even talk or; it’s not really a great setting to make first a good first impression? Equally, a loud dance floor is not ideal for an imitate talk.

The ideal setting is a small intimate cafe or quiet pub provides the perfect environment for a little light conversation, some flirting, and plenty of eye contact for that all-important personal connection that is the key to a successful date.

Tip # 4 – Time of day can be an important factor for a meeting as well.

First what kind of date you want? What do already know about your match? Is he or she an all-night party animal or an afternoon tea on the lawn type? Research reports that our objectives in online dating are seen differently depending on the time of day we choose to go online, and this also relates to “real world” dating.

Meeting earlier in the afternoon or evening is best if you’re serious about looking for a long-term partner and you think this match could possibly be “the one. This gives shows that you are a more dependable and honest person and that your intentions are authentic. If you’re more into playing the field, or are aiming for a more casual and ‘fun’ relationship then meeting up later in the evening should be fine.

Once again, there is no absolute principle that will help you to choose the ideal venue for your date, think about what you know about the person you’re meeting up with, what the two of you have in common and try to choose a date situation that mirrors this. Above relax, have fun and be careful!
